The journey of my textile career began in the year 1990 when I joined my Uncle's knitting factory. The factory catered to mostly producing jersey fabric. I worked in this factory zealously to learn everything from management to even loading of products. One reason of my inquisitive nature could be that firstly the factory was built on a small scale with very few labor men. Hence I never felt any hesitation to learn new skills daily. I was young, full of spirit and passion.
The world was mine to see.
My ancestry roots back to my grandfather working in textile production when he was young and my father was related to same work field only difference being that he worked with knitting ‘dyed’ fabrics . This career path was in my blood.
I continued my work in the following years and in 1993 I decided to work in a Karachi based renowned textile factory . Here I initially started off as a ‘Lead Assistant’ and had the experience to work under the influence of a Philippine team. This further polished my inter-cultural skills and soon I was promoted to the title of 'Dispatch In-charge’. After two years I got a project offer from another Karachi based company to work as a freelancer, During this time I had the chance to work in exporting textiles and foam products and simultaneously learning Back process, Bleaching, Dyeing and Printing process of fabrics. Therefore I learned the craft of ‘End Product Finishing ' and final proofing of products. This was to be an asset for me in the future.
One thing I learned while being in exporting department is about time management and not to compromise on the quality of the product. We would always receive pressure from various clients to get the shipment done at the earliest despite the products not having gone through a final quality check. But I would never bypass the protocol and quality. To me finesse and authenticity was a far more important aspect than sending before due time. Bypassing the quality was like a breech in the commitment and relationship one makes with the customer or client indirectly. And above all, Our religion never allows us to make false commitments or work with dishonesty. The one thing that was like a burden on my shoulder was the tag 'MADE IN PAKISTAN. ' on every export product. I could not and never will reoresent my country with some low grade product.
With this aim and goal in mind my passion drove me to collaborate with my (late) elder brother Syed Rehan Rehmani to lay the foundation of ‘'Rehmani Fabrics’. In July, 2000 we established processing mills under our name and ran those under our supervision. Our mills would produce quality products catering to top notch brands of Pakistan. But as fate would have it , My elder brother could not live to see our dream moving forward and he passed away in a tragic car accident in October, 2002 . The following year was no easy for us, His demise had a huge impact on my father and failing to cope with the sad reality he also left us for his eternal abode in Nov, 2003. These thirteen months were the toughest and a great depression phase of my life. Not only my family lost two of the most important members but I was now left alone to face the household, My family, and the grueling task of running this entire business on my own. With so much pressure on my shoulders never had I felt so vulnerable. The only hope I saw was my lord Allah.
By the grace of Allah , I regained and uplifted myself to bravely continue to run this business on my own. And soon 'Rehmani Fabrics’ was exporting quality products to the U.S, U.A.E, South Africa and most of Europe.
From experience of this entire journey what I can now say is that success will only come to those who work with full dedication and honesty. You may come across many hurdles and shortcuts. But always work with honesty. Your ultimate goal should be to satisfy your client and customer's requirement and needs without breeching the International standard and Protocol. Rehmani Fabric's slogan is thus to never compromise on the quality be it a small or a large order from our clients. We intend to deliver with top quality.
